In a moment of deep gratitude in 2019, I stood in the woods of England and planted the most resolute stake I had ever placed. I would never do business the same way again. I would never burn out. How I would BE in business was as important as the impact I was looking to make in the world.

I was having a year off after selling my company of 18yrs, Nature’s Child in Australia. I gave myself two years of space and time before I would need to focus on income again. Actually, it was only supposed to be one year but lockdown happened, which extended my sabbatical.

The new way to ‘be’ in business and life was a way an idea that no one seemed to be modelling or teaching.  It emerged as I listened deeply to the world, avoiding the usual metrics of recognition. This would be my chance to regenerate, re-create and restore balance from a new paradigm.

It’s not unusual to hear people talk like this now, but at the time, I kept the idea to myself as it sounded a bit out there back then! This is how fast the regenerative space has grown. It’s acceptable to talk about nature and intuition in companies now, but it was not in 2019! As usual, I was on the edge, a place I was used to in life. I trusted my experience and kept going with this work in private spaces to see if people wanted this.

One client, Claire Scobie, said to me at the time, “You are standing in the future, so I want you to coach me” That was a powerful moment for me.

Unbeknownst to me, it was the threshold of a new business.

I was quietly awakening a revolution for more than myself. I had decided to ‘be’ different, but the pathway for the how did not exist. There was no book to read or course to do, this would be a birth with no clear vision or goal. It turned out, I would be the one to open that pathway.

I immersed myself in healing and courses during my sabbatical that spoke a different language, one of energy, receiving, and being. The mentors I found reflected my soul’s quiet rejoicing and spoke of intution and guides.

I didn’t know where it was all leading, only that each next step felt like a clear yes. I walked the woods through lockdown in Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset, listening to trees that whispered, “include us in what comes next”

I had no idea what that meant and no clear plan. If I were to be truly regenerative, I knew my main job was to listen, cultivate intuition.

I developed a deep trust in the trees, the signs, and I trusted the three decades of business acumen. I would not bury my business skills, instead I would weave them into life differently.

As I did this, it turned out others wanted to know what I was doing and how to do it. That is how the B experience began, which then became The Growth Experience.

Years later when I met Giles Hutchins and he spoke of needing to ‘sense and respond’ I realised that is what I had been doing.

After three decades of running small businesses rooted in fair trade, certified organic practices, and the principle of do no harm inspired by the triple bottom line from John Elkington, Ambassador to the Future. Anita Roddick became my lighthouse with her radical transparency, human rights impact and connection to indigenous communities for her supply chains. This spoke to my values and honestly, without her modelling this, I’m not sure I could ever have gone into business. 

I built, ran, and eventually sold four enterprises based that I now realise was regenerative in their mission.

That success for me was measured by our annual audits from the ACO (Australian Certified Organic)  Similar to the B Corp concept with stricter standards and audits.

Yes, we were profitable (just) but never at the expense of our values. It wasn’t always easy. It didn’t always please shareholders. But it was true to what my soul knew was right. I wanted to model that it is possible to build something enduring without betraying what matters most.

What I hadn’t recognised was that the very system of hard work, long hours, compromise, and suffering, the dominant narrative of success, was fuelling everything I did.

I now know that energy and flow must build a business. That impact and wellbeing must sit at its heart. What was missing was the design of business as a living system. And that is exactly what an evolution in business now requires.

While on sabbatical in 2018, people began calling me for business advice. I enjoyed it, I did not chase it, it just arrived.

So there was no clear decision for me to be a mentor; this business found me when I entered a space of what I called ‘receiving’. It was a playful idea at first: ‘what if I did not push ever again, what might arrive if I listened’ was my question. 

My clients find me through resonance more than strategy. I do have a flexible business plan, but I focus on the impact, the message and the service foremost. I love marketing as a conscious practice, and it’s just fun for me. The rest follows.

This is how I found my FLOW and this is why I now teach FLOW as a way of being, including all the practices that allow you to cultivate this in your life.

How can my work contribute to the healing of our world? Can it also bring me a viable income so I can thrive? How can nature be our major shareholder. How does value and abundance fit into all of these thoughts? Is it really possible to not be exhausted and hard to run a business? 

YES!

You will need a community of others also asking these deep questions for it to become a movement. Nature mentors and wayfinding guides can help navigate the complexity of this transformation.

When I sold my company in 2018 I thought I was entering the final stage of my regeneration.

What emerged was the presence of a threshold for a new beginning.

A new way emerged, and these frameworks not only helped me, but they have now helped hundreds of people who have been through this experience.

In the early days, it was a three-month online experience that I called the B experience. I found that people repeated the experience two or three times which told me something about the length of time people needed to process new ways of being.

That developed into a follow up program that went deeper, it was also three-months and we called it The Growth Experience. Again realised it was not long enough for people, something was always left unfinished.

What people were coming back for were two things. The inner transformation work and outer work of conscious marketing and storytelling.

So I kept listening to what people wanted. That is when we matured into what we know today as a nine-month gestation.

In 2026, The Growth Experience has evolved further to include a 2-day retreat for the first time to prepare you for the journey ahead.

What you are invited to now is the ultimate combination that we have learnt since 2019 as the best support path we can offer you as an emerging, regenerative small business. Each year is informed by the journey of the people the year before; this is how I listen and mature the experience for the next year. Sometimes it feels like the current year calls the next year in for what they need.

This is how every year is different. It follows a familiar journey of frameworks and nature connection, but I am always on hand to adapt to the people in front of me needs.

There is no course template. We use the same frameworks but by nature, I must be flexible and attuned to the resonance of what the current year of journeyers need.

If you feel the call of something new, even if you don’t know if what you want is possible, you will be in great company.
